Query 1 opens the exhibition with a deceptively playful challenge: “Can You Spot a Pattern?” A humanoid robot
arranges a yellow-flowered plant, its skirt patterned with a grid of letters and state abbreviations. Handwritten numbers hover above the text, suggesting a coded relationship between language and data.
This robot—repeated across all three Query canvases—was laid down first and colored like a coloring book, differently each time. It becomes a ciphered host, a constant in a shifting system. The background branches echo
other works in the Secret Codes series, creating visual static and symbolic entanglement.
The codes embedded here are not isolated. They will reappear in later canvases, mutated and reframed.
Query 1 is not a puzzle to be solved—it’s a seedbed of encrypted logic. A quiet invitation to dwell in the question.
